How To Get Troop Volunteers!

In the early 2000's, my Girl Scout journey ended with the third grade in 2005. After moving to a new neighborhood and leaving my old troop behind, I left the Girl Scouts as a brownie and I thought that would have been the end of my adventure with a troop. Or so I thought!

In joining Kappa Delta Sorority in the Fall of 2016, I was reunited with the Girl Scouts. As Kappa Delta Nationals states,

"In 1998, Kappa Delta Sorority welcomed Girl Scouts of the USA as one of its national philanthropies. Through this incredible partnership, Kappa Delta members make a difference in the lives of countless girls across the country. Kappa Delta is proud to help Girl Scouts “build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.

Kappa Deltas serve as mentors and volunteers, reinforcing our common values of honesty, integrity, friendship and leadership. Collegiate and alumnae chapters host confidence-building programs, educational events, campus tours and other activities with Girl Scouts in their communities.

Further, the Kappa Delta Foundation contributes annually to the Girl Scout Gold Award program, providing each Girl Scout National Young Woman of Distinction award recipient a scholarship toward her college tuition.

This Spring, after working with the Girl Scouts in a series of Kappa Delta sponsored events, I decided to reach out to a local troop to volunteer full-time with the girls! I am so, so happy with this decision and cannot express how much other Kappa Delta's are willing to help with the troop. In fact, recently around 300 Kappa Delta's hosted a T-Sale through South By Sea to raise money for the troop to learn more about marine life, and I hope to do a follow up post about this later in the Fall about exactly what the proceeds went towards (picture below links to shirt sale)!

Whether it be looking for volunteers for troop meetings, filming a bridging ceremony, taking troop pictures, wanting to tour a college campus with the girls, or even collecting arts & craft supplies - the Kappa Delta's are here to help! Visit http://kappadelta.org/find-a-chapter/ to find a Kappa Delta chapter near your troop, and be sure to contact them asking for the help you need. If you need help finding a chapter, comment below and I will be sure to help you on this new path!
